i want to know how much it costs for the parts and labor to replace the rear axle on a 1991 5th avenue?

Depends what you're referring to. If a bearing "spun" and welded itself to the spindle, you just need a spindle, two new bearings, a seal and the hub or brake drum. Parts would typically come from a salvage yard for around $50.00 - 100.00.
If there's a clanging sound over bumps, the anti-sway bar has a broken weld inside the rear axle assembly. That can be welded. For an anti-sway bar that's cracked in the center, or for an assembly that was bent from a crash, a used axle could cost somewhere around $50.00 to 150.00.
These are guesses of course but are numbers that would not shock me. The spindle takes about an hour to replace; more if the old wheel bearing welded itself on and has to be cut off. Expect two to three hours to replace the entire axle assembly. After replacing any of these parts, the car will require a four-wheel alignment which usually takes one to two hours depending on how many wheels need adjustment.
