1987 Chrysler 5th Avenue steering

Hi:
First we need to figure out why it's loose. Have you checked the front end components (tie rods, ball joints...? If everything is ok there, next look at the steering box. Where the steering shaft goes into the gear (rod from steering wheel that goes throught the firewall / under the master cylender) check if there is play (does the shaft turn before making contact to turn the gear)? If there is play there, ou will need to replace the bushing that the steering rod sits between. If there is no play, the steering gear (box) will need adjusted or replaced.
