This may sound like a stupid question, but are the brake lights working? The switch actuates the plark lock solenoid.

There is second lock in the shifter that brakes and won't allow the cable to move. It can be repaired by raping a piece of wire around the plastic or you can replace the shifter. I do not recomend that you let the dealer doit. I had to because of a shortage of time and they stuck me for $500 by the time I got the tow, rental car for a day and the diagnostic fee and labor and part. You can get the part from moparpartsamerica. Com for$120 or less.
