It sounds like the system has gone down on charge which is typical for a car your age. Here is a guide that will show you how to recharge the system and make it cold once again.

If the charge is flat then there is a leak which you should fix before going any further because if you recharge the system it will just go down again. Here is a guide to help you with that,

If the charge is okay then I would check the air conditioner fuse and compressor relay

Please let us know what you find so it will help others.

Cheers, Ken

Air conditioning going hot then back to cold seems to be getting worse. I have taken my car to mechanics had it serviced, checked the doors for air/heating system and said nothing was wrong. I also have run the door test and checked for codes nothing can you help?

if it is getting cold an staying like that for about 20 minutes or less then gets hot it may be freezing up . what that is to much moisture in the system or a partial blockage. It needs gauges hooked up to it to tell if it is. Normally the fix for that is replacing the receiver drier and evacuating for 15 minutes then doing a Freon sweep then evacuating again for another 15 minutes before filling the system. If your a/c system has been repaired lately is the normal cause form not replacing drier and pumping it down. with to much moisture it freezes solid at orfice/expansion valve and doesn't allow the Freon into evaporator so it get hot/warm then as system stays that way for a while it starts to cool again. but a pro needs to actually see this happen. If everything is ok electrically I'd say that is the most common cause.

HI there,

You will have to get the system checked for refrigerant leaks, this is the most common cause of this problem.
