Air Conditioning problem
2002 Chrysler 300 M 6 cyl 180xxx miles

this question is about my sisters car, chrysler c, the air conditioning works amazing, so cold itll freeze you out in the heat of summer, but, its stuck on one speed. High. Nothing happens when you try to lower the speed. The heating works as well. Just stuck at high, im going to check the fuses tonight when I get home. What do you think is the problem?

also the speed control wont set? The light comes on when you hit the on button but wont set.

Hello and thanks for donating

When the heater / AC system begins to only work on the High setting, this can be caused by one of a number of things. I will start with the most common as well as least inexpensive. The low speed relay, which is in the power distribution center. Next in line would be the control panel you use to operate the system. If both of these are OK then move on to the blower motor module at the right side of the HVAC housing. If that checks OK then it must be wiring issue or the blower motor itself is bad.

As for the cruise control issue, check your brake lights to make sure they are operating and let me know.

So the a/c ill have to have someone look at. Because what you said to me there is a different language to me. I just know how to make a car look pretty lol.

As far as the break lights. They are working. So what about the cruise control now?

Thanks Brittney :)

Haha, OK. Well since the brake lights work that means the brake light switch is not bad, which would have been an easy fix. Fixing the CC will be harder than the A/C issure honestly, but the next thing you could do is just check the fuses to make sure they are all good.

I checked the fuses, I do believe it was thursday night. All the ones to the left of the steering wheel, and they all were good. As far as a relay goes, I have no idea how to see if those are good. But.

Since the fuses are good im taking it as this is a real bad sign. :(.

Best thing to do is just have a shop use their diagnostic scanners on the cruise controls sytem. This should pinpoint the cause of the issue and make fixing it much simpler. It could be anything from a faulty switch in the steering wheel to a bad cruise control module.
