When my car is first driven, small chirp sound in drive.
When I put it in neutral, it stops.

Just so I understand, it makes the noise in drive only and not moving? Does it make it in reverse?

I ask because the noise may be from the serpentine belt. If is definitely in the transmission then this is more than likely due to the fluid quality or the pump is not producing enough pressure. The chirping noise that you are hearing is from the clutches in the transmission not fully engaging in the needed amount of time to not make the noise.

This is assuming you do not have the CVT transmission. I see it is an option and if it does have this unit then this noise is the steel belt. As your transmission does not have clutches.

Let's start with this info and go from there. Thanks

Aloha! Thank you in advance for reply. Does not chirp in reverse. Yes, I have a CVT Nissan. They are saying it’s the alternator.
I’ve had problems at 19,000 when something in transmission was burnt and needed to be taken apart and cleaned.
In addition to that, dealership is telling me my throttle plate needs fixing. Was just cleaned in November 2019! I appreciate any more information you have for me. You have a great night.

Okay. That is what I suspected. The alternator is turned by the serpentine belt so that would make sense. So it is not related to the issue previously with the transmission. As for the throttle plate, what exactly did they say is wrong with it? Is there an issue or are they performing a service to it? If they are servicing it then it may not be required, it is just something they are recommending.

Sent an invoice for exact diagnosis given.
Remember, no other symptoms except for a light intermittent chirp.

Thank you very much. Basically they found the belt too tight/stretched and that wore out the bearing of the alternator pulley. The aftermarket radio causing too much load to the alternator which wore out the bearing is just silly. Excessive electrical load is not going to cause the bearing to wear so I would ignore that part but the rest sounds spot on.

Thanks for sharing. However, I am going to have the attachment taken down because it has all your personal info on it and we don't want that staying out there because this is a public site.

Thanks
