While driving my car slowed and stopped showing an anti-theft warning. We checked if there was oil in the car and if all other functions were working. They are! My engine will not turn over or crank at all. I was wondering if unplugging the battery would be a good idea in this case.

Hello,

Anti-theft reset.
The fix takes just a few seconds.

Press the unlock button.
Step out of the car, leaving the car door open.
Press lock button on the door.
Shut the door.
That is usually going to work. But with some models you may need a hard reset. All you have to do to perform one of these is disconnect the battery.

Remove negative cable.
Remove positive cable.
If you want to make sure you’ve drained any lingering energy, turn the key and press the horn.
Wait at least 10 minutes.
Attach positive cable.
Attach negative cable.

Also ensure that the battery terminals are clean and properly tightened.
