When I start my van, the starter engages for about 7 to 10 seconds. Is the starter going bad, or is it the starter relay switch?

Check battery terminals, clean and tighten
Check for power at the small S wire terminal on the starter
While a helper is holding the ignition in start position if have power suspect bad starter
