I replaced the power steering pump in my wife's 02 Chevy Venture van (AWD) about seven months ago. It seemed to work fine for about a month or two, but then started whining and intermittently being difficult to turn again.

I brought to Precision auto tune and the mechanic there said there was air in the lines.

After this much time is it possible that the P/S pump is ruined and needs to be replaced? If so, should I also have the entire P/S line flushed and refilled?

The OEM original P/S pump failed which was why I replaced it. The replacement was a remanufactured pump purchased from O'Reilly Auto.

No I didn't think to have the P/S line flushed and refilled.

What are you thinking?

Did original pump break shaft very common GM pump failure. Really noisy very hard to steer pully turning normal but no pressure to gear? Metal shavings went into system are in steering gear and is stopping piston movement. Pull return line hold over large pan run working wheel back and forth. Keep fluid full see what comes out you maybe able to flush out debris.
