2001 Chevy Venture Fuel Gauge

Have a 2001 Chevy Venture recently the gas gauge quit working. What it does is upon start up it reads Full then once you begin moving it goes to empty.
Additionally, once it goes to empty the low fuel light comes on and stays on. Is this a problem with the fuel gauge or an indicator for something else being wrong?

Probably the in tank fuel sender have this checked.
