1999 Chevy Venture Transmission Problems

Transmission problem
1999 Chevy Venture 6 cyl Automatic 230000 miles

We currently own a 1999 chevy venture and purchased it in December 2007...We replaced the engine in it in January 2008 that cost us $1200(Canadian). Now we are having problems with the transmission, it shifts hard and slams into gear and the engine light comes on...We were told that the transmission needs to be replaced.
Does anyone have a quick fix that will last us a year or so until we buy a new dodge caravan...
No more chevy's for this family..

You could replace the pressure control solenoid and pressure range switch and flush the transmission.
