Our 1999 Chev Venture has 202,000 km. It hesitates or double-clutches (and sometimes stalls) on the gear shift points (e.g. at 50kph, 70kph). It seems to happen when the vehicle is loaded with passengers or other gear, and also if we try to accelerate faster. Being loaded and stepping on the gas will definitely trigger a hiccup.

Has it ever been serviced? Could be a slightly plugged filter or dirty fluid. Has the check engine light come on before when the trans is acting up? If so have the PCM scanned for trans codes to see if it has a shift solenoid that is sticking or has high resistance

It turns out that the mass air flow sensor was clogged. The car now runs fine!
