1998 Chevy Venture Gear Shifter Connector Piece

Transmission problem
1998 Chevy Venture 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 76k miles

OK i found my problem, and it is that the little plastic piece inside on the gear shifter cable, at the transmission connection, inside of the cable itself is broken, it is just a little plastic u shaped piece.
My new question is, can i just replace that boot piece, or do i have to replace the whole cable assy?
