Electrical problem
1997 Chevy Venture

went to go start my van and all i got was a click every time i turned the key. I tried to jump start it and it was the same thing. Decided to change the starter and after I was done it started once but not again after that. I then noticed that the side post positive terminal was cracked and corroted to the point that it broke off. Could this have been the problem all along? I didnt think of it because the lights, radio and everything but the starter worked fine. Also the wire from the starter goes to the terminal that was bad. Please tell me this is the problem.
