I got a 1979 Chevy van with the 400 small block, it has the ignition coil on top of the disturber cap, I have replace the coil about five times and I would like to know what could cause the coil too arch from one wire to another, is there a direct feed back that could cause it burn up, if so what could it be, and what do I do about stopping the feed back?

Check the metal ground strap maybe its missing that goes under the top cover and grounds the coil on the HEI.
