im having electrical problems .when i try to crank van the battery cable on neg. side smokes ,why?

Hi there,

This can be caused by a bad earth at the battery or the body or engine, start checking these first.

Clean the battery terminals and cable clamps and make sure its properly tightened. You sure its not reversed hook-up? Double check
