To Whom It May Concern,

Probably a dumb question, but here it goes:

What is the purpose of the steering fluid reservoir cap? Is it just to keep debris out? If it was missing, what would the effect be? Would there eventually, be a loss of fluid and thus a loss of power steering?

Curious George.

Thanks in Advance

the cap is to keep fluid from escaping and there is a small vent on top of the cap,it's to let excessive pressure escape when turning the wheel very hard and to let fluid escape if it is overfilled. with out a power steering cap you will start to loose fluid,I would replace the cap.
