96 chevy cavalier

I have a 96 Chevy Cavalier with a 2.2 4 cyl with 45000 miles. The cooling light comes on when you accelerate . The engine hasn't over heated and the coolant tank in at the normal level. Why does the light come on??????[/b]

sounds like you may need a temperature sensor
