These s-10's, and s-15's, always have this issue. I've had it myself, check your fuse box. There should be a fuse labeled ECM, or ECM1. Check it, then replace. Replace it anyways. Should be a 15 amp.
THis fixed my problem. Same one your having. Then, I found out that my oil sending unit was on it's way out. It was shorting out that particular fuse. I just unpluged the the wire connection at my sending unit. And it fired right up. The only other thing I think can cause this would be the modual in the distributor. But I would go with the fuse.
