If I hear the fuel pump running does that mean it is a good fuel pump or could it possibly still be bad? I changed the relay but that did not work. It cranks but it will not turn over. Someone looked at it for me and he said that it was a loose battery cable and then it started fine for a few days until it had been parked for a couple of hours and then the same think, it just won't start. Any ideas?

Hi:
To know for sure if the pump is bad, you need to check fuel pump pressure. You can rent the tool at most nationally recognized parts stores. Also, Will the truck start with starting fluid? If so, the problem is most likely fuel related.

Let me know what you find. If you have good pressure, check for spark.
