THE HTR. RESISTOR FOR MY 2006, 05, 04 &1999 TRUCKS HAVE TO BE REPLACED ALMOST EVERY YEAR AT APPROX.$ 70EA. IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO BE THIS. SPECIFIC PROBLEMS ARE THE INTERMITTIN AND OR LOSS OF SPEEDS 1-4, AND MOST OF THE TIME THE HIGH (#5)SPEED WILL BE THE ONLY ONE TO WORK. I HAVE SEEN THIS TYPE OF PROB. ON MANY, MANY, GM PRODUCTS.

That is typical. The highest setting doesn't require the power to be lowered (resisted). As a result, the highest will usually work. Believe me when I say it isn't just GM. THey all do it. THe most common reason is the motor draws too many amps causing the resister to burn up.
