1999 Express Van Tranny problems

I Have a 1999 Chevy Express Van 2500, with a 305 engine. My problem is with the transmission. I seem to have 1,2,3,gears but I lost 4th gear. The Tranny was rebuilt about 2 yrs ago maybe 3. Iwas going down the road at about 65 in overdrive and the truck started to wine and i lost power in that gear.I can manually put thru 1,2,and drive but have nothing in 3rd. but when I start out in drive it will go thru all the gears and slip into the lastgear 3rd or 4th? At this point I`m getting high speeds but alot of winning out of it and a lot of slipping from gear to nothing and back to gear agian. Help me PLEASE!!! Jim z.[/b]

If the transmission / transaxle shifts into all gears, EXCEPT one,the problem must be related to a part or system unique to that gear.
This could also result from a linkage problem,such as a damaged shift mechanism,interference between the floor shift handle and the console or floor cutout,or restricted travel of the shift linkage and/ or rails due to misalignement
This problem may also be caused by damage to the selected gear or the synchronizer for that gear.
