1999 Chevy Truck Disturbutor

I changed the intake and intake gaskets had to remove the disturbutor but for got to mark before taking it out, I lined the #1 piston to top dead center and the disturbutor gear with the little indent in the gear and the white paint mark on the shaft and turned the oil pump shaft to line up to. Now I did all this but the truck turns over spits and sputters but with not start. It is a 5.7 liter GM engine in a 1999 Chevy truck

Did you feel for compression as the no.1 piston approaches compression stroke/TDC or Just turn the crankshaft to TDC/0?

Set the no.1 piston at TDC line the crank-open the dizzy cap where is the ignition rotor pointing at?
