1998 Chevy Truck whinning noises

I just bought a 1998 chevy k1500 4x4 and it has a whinning noise that is annoying. I had it on a lift and the driveshaft sounds hollow could that be the noise I am hearing

Actually, all driveshafts are hollow. Does the sound you hear change with speed? Does it change when turning?
