Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Chevy Truck Four Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles

The check engine light came in while going up a mountain at the same spot it has come on three times before. The other times the the code either cleared itself and one time the code showed up as a cylinder misfiring.
This last time when it came on it began knocking loud like it had slung a rod. The code reader says that it is the oxygen sensor. Will a bad oxygen sensor make an engine knock that BAD? It cranks fine but I am afraid to crank it.
thank you

Hi:
The O2 sensor won't cause an engine knock. Did it sound like a low end knock?
