1997 Chevy Truck transmission wont shift

lost tach and speedometer trans seems to stay in first gear. reseated connector on ignition switch. now have rpm & speedo but trans stays in first.

Hi
trans has diagnostic capabilities so see if there are codes present maybe faulty vehicle Speed sensor and trans is in Fail-safe mode.
