I have a '97 Chevy 1/2 ton with a 350 and an auto transmission. I had a rebuilt transmission put in it 3 years and about 20,000 miles ago. Lately I've noticed that when the weather is warm it won't shift out of park unless I let it idle for several minutes. If I stop and put it back in park, same problem again. No problems shifting other than that. Almost like the transmission fluid is too hot and takes several minutes of idling for the transmission cooler to start working well enough to be able to shift. Any ideas?
