97 Chevy 1500. Grinding occurs only when accelerating. Stops when RPM returns normal. Seems to only do it coming out of first gear....Any Idea?

you need to find if its in the transmission or the rear end. try moving the rear end yoke up and down and see if it has movement, if it does the the noise is probably coming from the rear end
