Hello. My father's truck has a 5.0L, CFI engine, with 120,000 miles. He says it progressively got worse in starting up, sometimes taking three tries. It finally quit starting. We replaced the oil pressure sender. I have also swapped out the PCM, BCM, ignition lock cylinder, and ignition switch wiring harness, all with no luck. I have tried the Passlock re-learn procedure with the key. Monitoring fuel pressure results in 55 psi after a few cycles. It has spark, and will run briefly on starting fluid. Fuel is reaching the injectors, but something is keeping them from opening. If it is the Passlock system, what else should I be looking for? A separate module, perhaps? The keys have no resistor pellet (originals, I believe), so I am not even sure which version, if any, it has. Any help is appreciated.

if at WOT it will shut off injectors (flood mode)

key on engine off injector connector off
checking with test light
one side should have battery power if not check fuses and a short

and not for nothing check the EGR if stuck open

Thank you for your unexpectedly quick reply, BMRFIXIT. I just checked the TPS voltage, and got 0.53v closed, 4.57v at WOT. This seems normal to me. I will check for injector voltage and EGR status when I return from holiday travel, and keep you posted. Thanks again!

Kudos to you, BMRFIXIT! Your suggestion of checking the TPS voltage led to a puzzling look into it's overall condition. In my absence, my father decided to simply take the thing off for inspection. As it turns out, the internals were bent out of shape, and there was a sizeable amount of dust accumulation. Cleaning and realigning all the pieces did the trick. The previous good voltage measurement was a fluke, since the TPS had an intermittent connection internally. Thank you once again!
