Electrical problem
1995 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

the check guages light comes on and the orange shifting light indicator dissapears and the tach and speedo don't work. I can cycle the truck on and off to make the guages and such return to normal and the check guages light goes out, then when i start driving it starts in 3rd gear. i can shift manualy back and forth to drive and second but it shifts really hard at that point. The truck won't shift on its own it does not go into first or over drive. I noticed there is a fuse called "trans" #20 in the fuse box, its a 10 amp. When I pull the fuse with the truck running the check guages light comes on and the tach and speedo and the orange shift indicator light don't work. I had also disconnected the battery cables and reconnected them and everything was normal including the shifting. Then driving down the road it done it again. I am really befuddled over this as to what is causing this.

Might be the ignition switch,it is what feeds power to the trans circuit, and when not present will cause the shifting problems you describe and could also cause the dash to have issues. When the check gauges light comes on, are all of them working properly?
