I hear clicking and squeking noises from time to time coming from what sounds like the axle or differential area. It is consistent with the vehicle speed and not the engine speed. It will do it when it is cold or when it is warmed up but not all the time. Usually it will stop if I take my foot off the accelerator or if I push in the clutch pedal. It normally will not make the noise under hard acceleration but only under normal acceleration or while maintaining speed.

Sounds like it's time for new universal joints. When you press the gas pedal you put stress on the entire driveline. A failing u-joint will make these sounds. Also, check the differential pinion gear bearings. To do this, just disconnect the drive shaft from the rear and try to move the differential yoke up and down. If it moves at all replace the pinion and carrier bearings.
