Hello,
I have a 1989 Chevy Corsica, 2.8L with approx 179000km that is making me mad. Last night on the way to pick up my husband from work the car was acting strange. The blinkers wouldn't blink, the wipers were responding really slow and the car was lurching or chugging while accelerating. On the way home from picking him up it got even worse. When I had to slow down or come to a stop the car would sound like it was dying & the check engine light came on, I started accelerating as quickly as possible, and it kept going. Then I had to actually come to a complete stop. And it died. When I tried to restart the car we got nothing. Then I left it for a bit and we got a little more juice but just the starter clicking. We eventually got a boost, it took a while for this to work and for us to be able to start the car, but we were eventually able to. Then on the way home again, only about 3-4 city blocks away, the car did the exact same thing and died again. We have never had any problems like this with the charging system before and now it seems like we do. The battery is just over a year old but it doesn't seem to be holding a charge all of sudden. The only thing that we have done to the car is the day before yesterday we had the front brakes changed. At this point I'm not sure if its the battery or the alternator but i'm leaning towards the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU

I would first check alternator. If you have a amp meter you can do it yourself. With car running it should put out about 13.5-14.5 volts, set meter to VDC, Place red wire from meter on(+) terminal and black wire from meter on (-) terminal of battery. Then we will go from there.A bad alternater can discharge a battery.
