I was driving home from work and noticed my oil light came on naturally i stopped got a quart of oil from my truck box and added it immediatly. I started the truck back up and the oil light remained on and it was accompanied by a knocking or ticking sound which felt like a serious loss in horsepower or compression. I got the truck home slowly and checked the valve covers and around the heads thinking one might have blown out but i didnt see any oil seapage anywhere. I waited a bit and started the truck again still the tapping or knocking sound remained and the oil light is still on what could be my problem?

sounds like your oil pump went out and the noise you hear is metal on metal cause no lubricant is moving through the engine
