Engine Cooling problem
1973 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I bought a 73 chevy pu it runs good but overheats, pulled thermostat housing and found chunks of gunk and jello substance, water is not cycled threw the engin. How should we clean it out?

Just purchase a good quality flush kit at the local parts store. What may have happened is someone mixed regular coolant with dexcool ( a newer GM coolant). They should never be mixed. If you have the t-stat out, remove the lower radiator hose and force water through the engine block with a garden hose. Then flush it following the directions on whatever product you get. I recommend doing the same to the radiator and the heater core.
