Engine Performance problem
1970 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1970 chevy c10. 1/2 ton two weel drive. 350 cid just put in edlebrock carb and new plug wires. My plugs are gapped at 35. All my vac hoses are in good shape and I have tested 6 times so far I am at the point were my numbers go up on one side and go down on the other now wen adjust the iddle up or down these numbers flip flop. Wat do I do? I have already tried advansing the dis.

Try adjusting the A/F mix, look for vacuum leaks and adjust the ignition timing and check dwell angle if its a conventional distributor/contact point/s

The truck has been upgraded to a hei distributer.
Wat I have noticed wen they test idle they test with the load on the engine. Now wen I adjusted all of these options I did it wen it was in park iddleing. Now im thinking if I redo all my adjustments with its load meaning in drive with the (E-BRAKES & POWER BRAKES) DEPREESSED. Since ther is a diference wen in park idle vs idle with brake like if you wre stoped at a light. Am I on the right track or am I way off?

Adjust the curb idle speed and ignition timing while in drive position
