Engine Mechanical problem
1969 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

in addition to my last question. I installed two new lifters. Set the lash and the rocker arm still wiggles. I can lift the tip off the valve about 1/16" to 3/16". Now I am thinking that the rocker arm is bent the rocker ball is messed up, the stud is bent or I am over reacting and the lifter preload needs to be set. Now I would like to add that I know how to set lash. When I built the chevelle 350 motor about 2 years ago I set the lash and got no play at all everything was tight including the rocker arms. For a little info the cam is a hyd melling cam no. CCS-2, lifters are hyd hylift johnson no. B-0817, rods are hyd comp cam, rockers are magnum roller tip rocker arms 1.6 ratio and the motor has like 8,000 miles.

Rotate the engine to each firing position, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. You can then set lash on intake and exhaust on that cylinder.

Grasp the pushrod, rotate while turning adjusting nut, as soon as you feel resistance (it may be slight resistance, stop and rotate adjusting nut 3/4 to 1 turn. This is preload.

After a few minutes the pushrod may be loose, this is the hydraulic lifter bleeding down. Als make sure you have the correct length pushrod.

If you still have the tick after this, you may have a slightly bent pushrod or a bad lifter that won't hold pressure.

By the time my question was answered I had already did it. I did full turn and reassembled engine had more power but still have tick. Just today I added some valvtrain quiet. Tickis barely noticable. So now I think it is just a bad lifter. So i'll get to it at some point. But thanks any for the help.
