1966 Chevy Truck V8 Automatic

My truck was running good but just started loosing power like if the carburator was failing and did not have any power. i'm getting black smoke when i'm on a stand still and my truck is running. It wants to die out but and the same time what could it be.. I changed the spark plugs out it has new wires??????

Inspect the choke plate might not be fully opening causing a rich mixture producing the black smoke
