Electrical problem
2008 Chevy Trailblazer Two Wheel Drive Automatic 45000 miles

Last night went to start car and wouldn't turn over. Today mechanic said it was bad ecm, and bad battery. Last night, a co-worker checked the charge on battery and said it was fine. He said it was electrical. Today mechanic said battery caused ecm to go bad. Can a bad ecm cause your battery to drain and go bad? Car is under warranty, and they said they would replace ecm, but not battery. I am curious if the ecm could have caused the battery to go bad.

Hi marci
it is highly unlikely for a ecm to destroy your batterry.

when your co worker tested the batt most likely he just checked voltage. However when a mechanic checks a batt we load test the batt
as in just like your starter does when it is cranking the engine. when load test is performed batt voltage should not drop below specs. if it does the batt is no good.

although the ecm may have a prob now the batt will be the next prob and they both have the same effect. no start
