My 05 Trailblazer recently had the check engine light come on. We took it to Autozone who stated the code indicated the fan is rotating too fast. My question is two part. First will replacing the fan clutch solve the problem with the fan rotating too fast? Second, can the codes from the fan cause the vehicle computer to shut down the enigine? (when the vehicle gets over 3000 RPM's the reduced engine power light comes on and the gas pedal become unresponsive). Thanks very much.

For the fan clutch code, you will most likely need a new fan clutch and to have the PCM programming updated. There is an updated fan clutch and programming to correct the concern. Have it scanned with a Tech2 scanner to verify any trouble codes. It does make a difference on the scan tool that is used.
