how can i tell if front struts are going bad?

Are you getting any noise from them?

Also, the oldest technique in the book is this. Bounce the front of the vehicle. If the struts are good, the vehicle will stop bouncing within 3 bounces. If they are weak, it will continue and take time to slow down.
