2004 Chevy Trailblazer catalytic converter

Sometimes my car's engine runs so fast and sometimes it runs so slowly. Checks some error codes but found nothing. Mechanic recommends to removed the catalytic converter and now the engine runs fine, but service engine lights on. What shall I do?

Replace the cat converter.Soundsliek it is broken interanlly and the pieces are moving around causing a restriction.Without the cat, you will always have the check engine light, the PCM monitors the efficiency of the cat, so if it isnt there, the light will come on
