Electrical problem
2002 Chevy Trailblazer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer and have replaced the Alternator and the battery recently. Also changed the battery cables. Truck drives fine most of the time, and then it is like you hit a bump in the road, and the battery starts to drain. You re-charge the battery and it won't keep the charge, until maybe one strange day, it does and you don't have a problem until you hit that pesky bump in the road again. The trouble continues to happen and it will leave me stranded anytime. I don't know what to do or what to check. Help if you have a step by step process to eliminate the culprits!

Hi Ldollahon. Welcome to the forum. Check the terminal in the electrical connector on the side of the generator toward the rear. If it is not loose or corroded, measure the voltage on that wire when the problem occurs. You should measure near battery voltage when the system is working, and around 2 volts when it is dead. If you find 0 volts there, push on the instrument cluster to see if it starts charging again. If it does, suspect a poor fitting electrical connector where the ribbon cable plugs into the socket on the back of the cluster, or look for a hairline break in the flexible printed circuit.
