I have replaced my cat.converter 4 times in the last 9months They were all aftermarket brands at a muffler shop I havebeen going to since the 60s.
The last time I replaced it was 5 days ago. the engine
lite went off and I took my vehicle and passed the emission test. 2 days ago the engine lite went on again.
I was told my a machanic that I need a original equipment cat converter from chevy.?????
Could this be my problem?

Well, it depends. Why are the converters going bad? Mis-diagnosis? What does the muffler shoop say?
Burning oil or coolant can kill a cat.

I have had situations where you indeed need an OEM Cat. NEVER would I use a universal one, always direct fit.

There are different qualities of converters and the precious metals will reflect a cost difference.
