I have a 1996 hevy blazer with 114,000 and the transmission keeps over heating. It has the tow package so it already has a trans cooler in it. I have changed the fluid and filter twice now and it keeps over heating? I have even unhooked one of the lines going to the cooler to make sure I have good flow through the cooler which I do. Any body have any idea?
when it does over floow the fluid comes out of the vent hose and covers the motor with trans fluid not to mention the smoke show when the fluid hits the hot headers.

Now the only thing I can think of is that I have used DEXRON® III/MERCON fluid the max life stuff.

I did call a dealership and they said that using that fluid should not be a problem.
I did some more testing and found that the trans only over heats when I am at highway speeds. What I am now wondering is, is it possiable for a cooling path to be clogged in the transmission when im at highway speeds? Is that possiable? I was able to drive around all day at normal speeds in 100 degree heat with out an issue but as soon as I hit the highway the transfluid comes out of the vent tube.
