1997 Chevy Tracker 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

egr valve code keeps coming up took egr off cleaned valve and tubes lite come back on i noticed on the emmisson label a egr dignostic valve does any one know what this means or how to test the other little valves that go along with the egr system?
