I have a 2001 Tahoe - the other day, I started out from the house and it started jumping - not really hesitating. Felt like it was surging very bad. The next day, I started it and it ran really rough for a few minutes then straightned out. Later in the day, it started surging again - don't know if it's the transmission or the fuel system - any ideas?

what could have been done on your car lately before you started experiencing the problem on your car?
did you change spark plugs?,spark plug wires?
anything? or it just started just like that.

Didn't do a thing - update - it died on me again today and haven't been able to start it. It will fire, runn for a few seconds, then die. I changed the fuel filter, pressure regulator and checked all the fuses and relays - all were ok. Could it be the fuel pump or throttle control valve? I now know it's not the tranny.

:( Started off a couple months ago, engine started to miss fire. Took it down had a complete tone up done. Cleaned the injectors the fuel system everything. Replaced fuel filter. Problem fixed for the time being I thought. NOW Every morning or after it sits long enought to completely cool. I start it and it runs rough, try's to die idle rough like it has neven done before. As soon as it hits operating temp runs great. Changed termastat, no help! I can not figure out what the problems is, takes like 20/30 min to hit operating temp but until it does runs rough.....PLease help or I will get rid of it.

Sometimes, it is best to take to a garage that is current on the technology. Ask the local snap on tool salesman for a referal , he will know one!

It may cost a few bucks to diagnose, but it is way cheaper than replacing the truck. If you like the truck you may be only the equivilant of a car payment or so from it running right.
