I want to change the plugs on my Tahoe. I've done this on other cars but on the Tahoe they appear to be encased in a metal cylander. Does this just protect the plugs? Does it pull off? I was afraid to pull too hard. Also, will it hurt the cooling system if I use something other than Dextran which cost about 100.00? Thanks

The metal cylinder is a heat sheild and can remain right where it's at. Use and extension to get down in.

Dex-cool is a 5-year 150,000 mile coolant, you can use extended life coolant which has a long life as well. You can go to standard green coolant, but then you need to change it every 2 years/24,000 miles. I would stay with Dex-cool on that one.

Dextron is transmission fluid.
