2003 Chevy Tahoe 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 70K miles
Yikes! I'm a woman who knows little about cars. Our family was in the Tahoe when the oil pressure low warning bell and light came on. We stopped the car, checked the oil (it was fine) and read the book. It said to pull over ASAP, as engine might overheat and catch fire. We saw a garage, restarted Tahoe and drove about 1/2 mile and began to hear awful noise. Turned into garage, turned off truck. Mechanic says we may have to replace engine because oil pump is shot and didn't do it's job on that short drive. Is this possible to burn up an engine in that short amount of time?
