2002 Chevy Tahoe Transfercase

While driving in two wheel drive my truck will lose power like I shifted into neutral and I when I pullover and try to put it back into park my gears will grind. It also so will not move unless I'm in fou sheel drive and I can't figure out why. I have to pull my encoder motor off and do it manually and I was what could cause this problem can you help?

The encoder motors have been a problem on those. I have also seen some transfer cases be bad. Very pricy. Are there any codes in the computer at all?
