The check engine light was on, hooked up hand held OBD II tester, read out P0306. So I replaced all 8 spark plugs and wires. Engine light came back on after resetting. I have replaced the coil pack to cylinder 6, reset the light and it again has came back on with the same read-out, P0306. I am not sure where to go from here, what would be the next step?

This can also be a fuel injector that causes this. Or a vacuum leak. You didn't put down engine sizie because there are a few different problems with different engines. If this is a 8.1L (big block) because of the smaller bolts used for the intake manifold it tends to loosen up which can cause vacuum leaks as well as use oil. You might get away with an injector cleaning by a pro not the crap you get at an auto parts store. But have a pro look at it.

Thank you for the advice, I will definitely swap those out next. It's a 5.3L vortec engine, if that changes anything?
